FLAG, the third and latest project from French rap duo Fixpen Sill, composed of Kéroué and Vidji, is available for the first time on a limited edition double-colored vinyl! The 17 tracks seamlessly weave together various conceptual worlds, bound by a coherent thread and driven by a powerful mix. From the intro, "La pilule," Vidji and Keroué seem to ride the beat like a rodeo. Mastering pauses and rhythm changes to perfection, the first track sets the stage: the rapping is going to be intense. Ultimately, a balance is struck between hard-hitting tracks and potential singles. The incredible "HAYDN," "Attila," and "DSS FLAG" fall into the former category, ultra-polished and ready for concert mosh pits. Softer vibes, without resorting to stereotypes, can be found with "Désolé" and "Bye bye." And a few gems are hidden amidst this dichotomy, like "Rien d’plus." A huge hit. Sparing with features, the duo relied on two sure bets. Lomepal, for the single "Bye Bye," which struggles to take off effectively on YouTube despite the sublime music video surrounding the track's potential hit. Another collaboration: a red-hot Népal on the track "Touareg." Far from being a crude succession of thick brutality in the verses, the trio opted for a rather sung chorus after which Népal comes in to break necks. In fact, no one other than him can describe the philosophy of the track: "I have three rules: do what I have to do, do what I have to do, do what I have to do." We thus find a Fixpen Sill that is sharper, more original, and ambitious than ever. The group, who states they worked extensively on the album's finishing touches, delivers a brilliant piece, also supported by exceptional production and a Raegular cover that is once again a "masterclass." All the planets are now aligned; all that's left is to champion the album as it deserves.
