Emerging from the Olympic forests with a new album and a bag full of chanterelles, Ben Funkhouser of fish narc has directed the damp melancholy of his early works towards the sun. Uncle is both a cry of resignation and a declaration of seniority, a collection of observations tinged with the blues of youth delivered with a Westerbergian inclination. Recorded and produced by Alex Farrar, the 11 tracks bear the marks of his style: textured rock, both raw and polished, somewhere between well-crafted power pop and punk conviction. No self-pity or dilution. A rocker and producer from the Pacific Northwest recently relocated to Los Angeles, fish narc made a name for himself as a member of GothBoiClique before turning to SST, K Records, and the DIY scene of his origins. This fall, he will be touring the United States with his punk horde.
