He is a composer of elegant, nuanced, and captivating music, as well as a pianist and improviser of exceptional ability and originality. Since bursting onto the national scene with his self-produced debut album Turas in 2018, Fergus has won awards, including Album of the Year at the Parliament and Scottish Jazz Awards, a shortlist spot for the Scottish Album of the Year Award 2019, finalist for BBC Jazz Musician of the Year 2018, and most recently, in October 2020, he received the Best Instrumentalist award at the Scottish Jazz Awards.
