Complete orchestral recordings on deutsche grammophon /vol.1

Description

A hundred years after the birth of the conductor, Deutsche Grammophon dedicates a special edition bringing together all of his recordings for the label. The first volume to be released is dedicated to his orchestral recordings, gathered in a 45 CD box set, covering a vast repertoire consisting of symphonies, concertos, waltzes, overtures, and ballets, among others (the second will be devoted to sacred works, choral pieces, and opera, to be released in 2015). It includes his Beethoven (symphonies 1, 3, 5, 7, 8, and 9), famous Mozart (symphonies 29, 35, 39, 40, 41, as well as the legendary concertos with Clara Haskil), reference interpretations of Bartók and Kodály, symphonies 4 to 6 by Tchaikovsky, two recordings of Strauss's waltzes, famous recordings of some great modernists like Blacher, Egk, Glière, Hindemith, Honegger, or Martin making their return to the catalog, and many other mythical recordings. An exceptional musician, Fricsay had an insatiable thirst for the slightest detail, both in opera and in concert halls. His recordings reflect great precision. Although his recording career was brief, he has no less than 82 albums to his credit, most of which are reference recordings in their repertoires.
