«Havana meets Kingston», when Cuba meets Jamaica
Two universes so different and yet so close. Two islands, two stories passionately linked to music and two peoples who live through it. Two nations born from the migration of people, from diversity and mixing, which prove how much it makes us richer, stronger, and more creative!
It is in all of this that the Havana meets Kingston project is unique. Until today, no one had recorded such an album!
The idea comes from the ingenuity of Mista Savona, an Australian globetrotting producer who travels the planet in search of sounds and talents.
In 2015, he brought together the best of them, from Kingston to Havana.
Thus, Sly & Robbie, Bongo Herman, ‘Bopee’ Anderson, Ernest Ranglin, Rolando Luna, and Barbarito Torres from the Buena Vista Social Club, Los Van Van, Havana Cultura, and many others come together. The experienced musicians also play with the young prodigies from both islands. A historic intergenerational and cultural exchange! The borders open, once again thanks to music.
