Description

Released in 1994 and 1996, here are two recordings that have become legendary, bearing the double stamp of rare and major records from the movement they embody to perfection. The spirit of Django Reinhardt guides Fapy Lafertin’s playing, his choruses of rare elegance and precision, his incomparable rhythmic drive, making him a continuator rather than a mere heir to the master. Reissued in 2012 by Lejazzetal, this expanded and remastered version presents “Swing Guitar” and “Hungaria,” recorded under pre-war conditions (live take in a circle around a 1930s microphone), in a production by Dave Kelbie, a key figure, iconoclastic guitarist and undoubtedly the greatest producer of the genre (Evan Christopher's Django à la Créole, Tcha Limberger,.). Essential to the record collection of any jazz lover.
