Neither quite the same, nor really another. After the diptych GipsyGuitar from Corsica (two volumes released successively in 2021 and 2023), which showed all his qualities as a performer and creator, Fanou Torracinta’s third album shows with remarkable coherence that the conviction he has displayed since his beginnings at the head of the Corsican Trio and then alongside master Tchavolo Schmitt is a force that keeps moving forward. For if it is still the same quartet leading La Belle Vie—the guitarist Benji Winterstein, the double bassist William Brunard, and the pianist Bastien Brison—and if the line remains as frank as it is elegant, the native of Haute-Corse has gone a little further still.
