The viola da gamba conjugated in the present by Fahmi Alqhai. In his new recording project, A piacere, Fahmi Alqhai once again demonstrates profound expressiveness: with the viola da gamba, his "wonderful muse," the musician recreates on CD a program he completed during his recent concerts. Following Rediscovering Spain (with his Accademia del Piacere) that has moved so many listeners, this new album Glossa focuses on Alqhai's qualities as a soloist, allowing us to savor the diverse atmospheres and the multifaceted musical worlds that his instrument enables him to (make us) discover. Erasing any connection with the idea of a relic of the decadence of the French aristocracy of the time of Louis XV, Alqhai demonstrates the versatility of the viola da gamba, its flexibility, and its intensity in the infinite expression of his emotions, whether it is the music of the masters of the Spanish, German, or French baroque, or Always with me, always with you, an adaptation of Joe Satriani's rock. In this piece or in others like the version of El cant dels ocells with the participation of cantaor Arcangel, Alqhai surrounds himself with musician friends. Together they succeed in transforming the Seville recording sessions - into an unheard sound restitution - into a demonstration, once again, of the possibilities of creative freedom in ancient music when... it is in good hands!
