Small bowler hat like Charlot on his head from which a thicket of dreadlocks escapes and striped top hat on a white shirt worthy of an Incorruptible from the 30s: Faada Freddy has a style all his own, half old-school chic, half ghetto rude boy. A cool and zazou look that not only gives him this "street dandy" distinction but also sets the tone for "Gospel Journey," a beautifully styled debut album, ageless although eminently modern. "Gospel Journey," made with no other instrument than the voice and body percussion, is a subtle blend of the vocal harmonies of a Bobby McFerrin and pop melodies with a Soul voice timbre like Otis Redding. His first E.P released only digitally in spring 2014 surprisingly managed to rise to the heights of the digital album charts and sparked enthusiasm from eclectic personalities such as Zaz, Lenny Kravitz, Bernard Lavilliers, Nagui, Imany, and Grand Corps Malade. Even before the release of his first album, Faada Freddy already has a sold-out Trianon and a sold-out Cigale, a Zenith tour as the opening act for Zaz and Bernard Lavilliers, as well as rare media exposure for an artist at this stage of development (Le Before du Grand Journal de Canal +, Taratata, the M6 news, BFMTV, LCI, France Inter, Europe 1 among others). For all these reasons, it is highly likely that his warm, pure, and melodious voice will break out from the pack of new talents in 2015.
