For nearly a decade, Extinction A.D. from Long Island, New York, has brought an intense and fierce approach to metal. The frenetic energy and power of their live show are now matched on their new EP "To The Detested," which is the complete follow-up to the full-length album "Culture Of Violence" from 2022 and their latest offering since the 2023 EP "Ruthless Intent." So many different worlds have shaped this band; from writers like Alan Moore and George Orwell; to lyricists like Wreak Havoc and Chuck D; to directors like Tarantino and John Carpenter. But musically, Extinction A.D. has a 90s metal hit running through their veins. Not just bands like Pantera and Machine Head, but the often-overlooked 90s offerings from Testament, Sepultura, and Slayer. Struggling as hard as their predecessors, the band also breaks its environment and delivers a hellishly heavy mosh; they have achieved that very important blend of 80s thrash, 90s metal, and modern hardcore.
