"PETROUCHKA" BY STRAVINSKY RECORDED IN 1999 AT THE PLEYEL HALL AND THE "POEM FOR VIOLIN" BY SVETLANOV WITH THE GREAT VIOLINIST VADIM REPIN. Evgeny Svetlanov is one of the greatest conductors of the second half of the 20th century. Freed from the Soviet yoke, he gave with the Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio France a series of concerts that remain in the memories of all those who were able to attend. To commemorate the 20th anniversary of his death, Warner Classics is releasing an album with two absolute exclusives: a frenzied Petrouchka by Stravinsky (recorded at the Salle Pleyel in 1999), which was the heart of his repertoire, and a Poème for violin (recorded at the Maison de la Radio in 2002) of his own composition where one can hear the violinist Vadim Repin at his peak. The quality of these recordings also allows one to listen to Svetlanov's art in an unprecedented sound quality.
