Evan Christopher is one of the most distinguished ambassadors of his instrument. The brilliant journey he has led over the past thirty years in the international jazz spheres has propelled him today to the rank of a true clarinet icon!
For this new tribute to Sidney Bechet, Evan surrounds himself with the excellent trio "Three Blind Mice." He finds in this atypical orchestra a fertile ground to immerse his ideas. Trumpeter Malo Mazurié proves to be a privileged interlocutor and up to his ambitions: their two voices elaborate a melodic, virtuosic, and flamboyant discourse where the phrases coexist and challenge each other in a counterpoint that reaches new heights!
Félix Hunot (guitar) and Sébastien Girardot (double bass) provide unwavering rhythmic and dynamic support to the ensemble, with rigor and subtlety.
Finally, and especially on the occasion of this studio session, produced by Michel Stochitch (producer of the label Camille Productions), the orchestra is joined by Guillaume Nouaux on half of the tracks. Thanks to his perfect mastery of the drums in the New Orleans jazz style, Guillaume makes the orchestra groove without restraint and infuses that extra soul that elevates the music even higher.
