Sonates pour violon seul

Description

Born in 1972, violinist Frédéric Pélassy is one of the most recognized French artists abroad. He has given hundreds of concerts on all continents and will return in 2017 to Japan, Germany, and South Africa. It was in the Paris region that Frédéric Pélassy began studying the violin. At the age of twelve, he was unanimously awarded 1st Prize at the inter-conservatory competition of the City of Paris. He then had the opportunity to train with some of the greatest violinists and pedagogues: Sándor Végh at the Mozarteum in Salzburg, Yehudi Menuhin and Alberto Lysy at the International Yehudi Menuhin Music Academy in Gstaad, and Zakhar Bron in Spain. In the 1990s, he also made frequent trips across the Atlantic to improve his skills, notably at the invitation of the New England Conservatory in Boston, with Mauricio Fuks in Montreal, and with Walter Levin in Chicago as part of the Steans Institute for Young Artists. He was a laureate of the Menuhin Foundation, the Musical Autumn Festival of Young Performers, the Cziffra Foundation, Sacem, and the International Tibor Varga Competition when, at the age of 16, he made his first recording for BNL. His discography now includes numerous volumes dedicated to composers ranging from Bach to Debussy, including Handel, Haydn, Mozart, Schubert, Beethoven, Paganini, Mendelssohn, Brahms, Dvorak, Lalo, Tchaikovsky, Franck, Dubois, Fauré, and Chausson. He has already produced about twenty records for the BNL label, both as a soloist and in sonatas, trios, quartets, and with symphonic orchestras.
