For the year 1706, Marc'Antonio Ziani (c. 1653-1715), then vice-Kapellmeister to the Habsburgs, wrote the Good Friday music La Morte vinta sul Calvario, typical of the Viennese court. Various allegorical figures such as "Faith", "Human Nature", "Adam's Soul" engage in a rhetorical dispute with the devil, who rejoices at the death of Christ.
