Erich Wolfgang Korngold

Concerto et sonate pour violon

Description

Korngold’s Violin Concerto is a fascinating and eclectic gem, with exquisite Mahlerian harmonies alternating with a Hollywood feel, the violin giving itself over to surging melodies and displaying exuberant virtuosity. The Violin Sonata was written 30 years before the concerto; the 16-year-old composer is firmly rooted in a late Romantic period.
