La guerre des te deum

Description

Two antagonistic yet closely related works, illustrating a "Querelle des Te Deum," a true war of spotted violin scores, a frivolous echo of Louis XV's recent victories. It is also the rediscovery of two of the most talented composers among Rameau's contemporaries, François Colin de Blamont and Esprit Joseph Antoine Blanchard. Daniel Cuiller takes hold of these pieces with the enthusiasm that had him revive a previous Te Deum, that of Henry Madin, which was met with acclaim. By adding the brilliant singers of the Chœur Marguerite Louise, conducted by Gaétan Jarry, to the virtuosic musicians of Stradivaria, he enthusiastically responded to this "commission" for the Chapelle Royale de Versailles.
