Fede e amor

Description

Music for Countertenor and trombones at the Habsburg Court. The Viennese repertoire with trombones from the years 1670-1770 is unique in the history of music. Although the trombone already had a long tradition in church music, up to then it was almost always used as a consort instrument. A characteristic feature of Austrian music in the period mentioned above is the use of trombones as virtuosic solo instruments - and this at a time when the trombone had already lost popularity in other countries. Most of the pieces on this recording have not yet been recorded on CD - which is particularly surprising, since the trombone solos that have drawn our attention are found in the works of all the important composers at the Habsburg court of the time. It is worth noting the very frequent combination of the trombone or trombones with an alto voice. With its highly colorful and varied forces, this repertoire offers every guarantee of an exciting program
