We have been working regularly with the harp since the ensemble's creation in 2006; this fascinating instrument has always seemed to us to have great sonic potential for contemporary aesthetics. It therefore took our encounter with contemporary composer Claire-Mélanie Sinnhuber to set up this project of commissions and recording with these two pieces, Héliotrope and Renouée des oiseaux. This writing, so fine, so precise, leads us into a dreamlike world where the harp envelops and embraces the dotted writing of the strings. The flowers, always wild, linked to time, which serve as her inspiration—such as "the eleven o'clock lady" or "the heliotrope"—open and close at the same hour, tied to the sun's course. At the same time, the discovery of a forgotten masterpiece, the trio by Henriette Renié, this great harpist, composer, soloist, and teacher who significantly advanced the instrument that is the harp and its technique to make it the solo instrument we know today. Beyond the magnificent beauty of this piece, this woman paved the way for the generations after her by asserting herself as a composer and soloist at a time when, in the late 19th century, these professions were not open to women. One can only regret, given this masterpiece, that a large part of her repertoire has been lost, linked to the little regard given to women's writing at the time. Two women, two eras, two singular destinies juxtaposed in this album.
