Two musicians, two generations, two instruments. And subtle melodies, like that of "Anne Blomster Sang," which can help you start the day on a very good note if you listen to it upon waking. This melodic work of craftsmen opens an album that brings together for the first time two musicians with different backgrounds but united by their love and respect for jazz: Enrico Pieranunzi and Federico Casagrande. The pianist has become a great European master of the piano, while the second left his native province of Treviso a few years ago to confront the Paris jazz scene and sharpen his scales. Their paths crossed in Udine, and their collaboration in the studio gave birth to an airy, luminous, calming album, with some livelier moments (the improvisations "Sector 1" and "Sector 2"). The title "Dangerous Paths" is a dialogue where the two instruments intertwine with vehemence, as if the musicians were traversing a road fraught with obstacles. But calm is on the horizon, and "Within The House of Night" seems to emerge in filigree like an oasis of calm and harmonic refinement. With the exception of the title "Beija Flor," the two artists composed the entirety of the album; they pay a very moving tribute to Charlie Haden, with whom Pieranunzi shared the stage throughout the 80s alongside a certain Chet Baker (and during the following two decades for the albums "Special Encounter" and "FelliniJazz").
