After two EPs and notable collaborations (Prince Wally, Luidji, Slimka, Benjamin Epps, etc.), the singer, songwriter, and melodist Enchantée Julia opens a new chapter in her career with ONZE, a debut album with a carefully crafted groove that she paves the way for in France, blending neo-soul intentions with R&B inflections. It’s the art of making the French language groove, which is not always versatile, marrying a certain lyricism inherited from chanson with the rhythmic and melodic codes of contemporary soul with Anglo-Saxon roots. This is the promise kept by Enchantée Julia in this album recorded between the southeast of France and the Noble studio in Paris, where sound engineer Clément Caritg (Luidji, Lala &ce, Lossapardo…) meticulously shaped the sonic identity of the 11 tracks, 8 of which are produced (or co-produced) by the young and highly regarded multi-instrumentalist LaBlue. With her pure and celestial voice, which finds its place in sophisticated arrangements, she candidly yet poetically recounts her most intimate emotional struggles. Enchantée Julia has truly established herself on the French scene with her second EP LONGO MAÏ, released in 2022 and now available on vinyl for the first time. In this cathartic and hedonistic project, whose name is a deliberate nod to her southern roots, she invites the St. Etienne duo Terrenoire as well as rapper Benjamin Epps.
