The Slim Shady LP

Description

The rap discovery of 1999: a pale-faced virtuoso addicted to black humor and shocking images. White trash hip-hop from Detroit, the one named Marshall Mathers (M & M, hence the nickname) had released a first album in 1996, Infinite, which went unnoticed. Then he was spotted by a man with a sure instinct, Dr. Dre, and signed to his label Aftermath. King of provocation and uncompromising lyrics, Eminem/Slim Shady goes all out: "I don't give a fuck, God brought me here to mess things up. (...) No wonder my brain is fucked up, I was born during an earthquake!" The rascal respects strictly nothing and no one (except his daughter Hailie): drugs, violence, psychological derangements of all kinds are for him just as many subjects for jokes, just like AIDS. He spares not even his own parents and the mother of his daughter, also mercilessly ridiculed. But it is especially his swift flow, highlighted by the sober production of Dr. Dre on three tracks, that wins everyone over.
