Invocation

Description

In "Invocation", soprano Elsa Dreisig explores the theme of prayer and invocation through 17 works by 14 composers: Verdi, Wagner, Puccini, Dvorak, Rossini, Gounod, Grieg, Bizet, Janacek, Flotow, Amy Beach, as well as two lesser-known composers: Carolina Uccelli and Peter Heise. Accompanied by Massimo Zanetti and the Orchestra and Chorus of the Teatro Carlo Felice in Genoa, Elsa Dreisig blends famous arias and rarities in six languages. Among these arias is the famous Casta Diva, a prayer addressed to the goddess of the moon in Norma, which the singer considers the heart of the album.
