Planets

"Planets" is the ninth studio album by the German rock band Eloy, released in 1981. This concept album about the planet Salta is the first part of a diptych with 'Time to Turn' from 1982; initially, the two albums were supposed to be released together as a double LP, but they ultimately came out separately. It was even intended to be developed into a trilogy, but that never happened either. The two LPs were released separately and both had a slightly different musical style. The sound of 'Planets' characterizes the transition between the 70s and 80s in progressive rock music. It combines space rock, synthetic elements, and heaviness. The album was recorded at the Horus studio of Bornemann in Hanover and is the last album featuring drummer and percussionist Jim McGillivray. The sound engineer is Jan Nemec. Overall, it is considered one of the band's best albums.
