Eurydice Bis

Description

As in all fables, all legends, all myths, the heroine is mysterious, elusive. Such is Elise Caron. A crystalline voice, refined melodies, a precise and airy piano, a few whispers of strings. One never emerges unscathed from an immersion in Elise Caron's universe, and often even enchanted. Venturing to the border of jazz, chanson, and contemporary music is a delicate endeavor. It is the abandonment of the desire for conquest (of a territory, of a musical genre) in favor of a singular and polymorphic blossoming. For several years, Elise Caron has been one of those who succeed in this bet: walking on a tightrope with the ease of solid ground. Eurydice or the lover, the prostitute, the baker, the dreaming woman, the comical one, the angry woman, the "flower" woman, in bud or in full bloom, the deep root of the "tree," Mother Michel and Cinderella are all figures of the eternal feminine that traverse the entire album. The lyrics possess a poetry that could, without shame, be content to be read. All boundaries (moral, physical, symbolic) are abolished, sublimated. More than an album, a magic trick.
