Description

Incarnating great heroines of opera subjected to the storms of fate, Elina Garanca draws on her experience and artistic intelligence in a program of romantic arias that includes some captivating rarities and true essentials. Revive illustrates the passionate reactions of women thwarted or plunged into distress by events beyond their control. The album contains, among arias from Cavalleria rusticana by Mascagni and Henri VIII by Saint-Saëns, excerpts from La Bohème by Leoncavallo and Hérodiade by Massenet, as well as famous pages, notably from Adrienne Lecouvreur by Cilea, Samson and Dalila by Saint-Saëns, Werther by Massenet, Les Troyens by Berlioz, and Boris Godounov by Mussorgsky. This wide palette showcases Elina Garanca's versatility and the range of her vocal register, while also reflecting her musical interests. She is accompanied by conductor Roberto Abbado, who leads the Orquestra de la Comunitat Valenciana.
