RAICES Y SEMILLAS… Roots and seeds. This is the title of El Comunero's 5th album. Roots, because as always, the group chooses to draw from the repertoire of protest songs from the past, from Spain or elsewhere, to reappropriate them and transmit their Stories. Seeds, because this time the group has favored original compositions to create its own folklore and tell its own stories. In Spanish, always, but also in French and, for the first time, welcoming Greek or Russian performers and other guests. While the themes remain true to the group's spirit, they also address more current issues, such as other possible worlds, police violence around the world, or the development of new solidarities in Argentina during the pandemic… - - - - There is in El Comunero a touch of the magic of the philosopher's stone; this ability to turn memory into gold makes it so vivid that it seems to us that, through a Song, we hold in our arms the Beautiful Republic, the Beauty of the Just, the Strength of Utopias."
