The story repeats itself. Haven't we already heard this phrase? (It's not just a frequently heard comment, it's also the main theme of a new double album by Edward Reekers titled "The Liberty Project". What is it about? A rock opera, a musical, a conceptual album? A mix of the three? Yes.
"I wanted to create a story within a story, so I introduced 2 characters, who fall in love, separate, and find each other again," explains Reeker. "Around them, a society in full turmoil where politicians, bankers, and journalists, among others, comment on the situation they are facing." Reeker adds: "The recording process was a life-changing experience for me. Having composed all the music and written all the lyrics for the project, it was truly a dream come true for me to hear it come to life with so many great musicians and singers who shared their wonderful talent with me."
The 17 tracks of the album are the result of these efforts. What immediately catches the attention is the diversity of the material: from ballads to heavy metal, including pop songs, rock-oriented power tracks, authentic blues, and almost classical instrumentals. Is it a rock opera? Yes. Is it a musical? Yes. Is it a conceptual album? Without a doubt!
