The orchestral intro evokes more of a circus announcement, but as soon as the little piece of legend opens her mouth, it’s an explosion. The rolled "r"s, the emphasis inherent in realistic song, the piano and strings, it’s an atmosphere that is found here, intact despite the distance. The former "little Piaf" is now an international star, who transfigures words and notes by embodying them with all the pain and saturation imaginable. On this third live performance in the hall on Boulevard des Italiens, the hits "La Foule," "Mon Manège à moi," or "Hymne à l’amour" sit alongside the rarer "Salle d’attente" or "Comme moi."
