It was also the first number one single of the 1970s. Towards the end of 2021, the song experienced a massive resurgence in popularity due to its popularity on TikTok. Written by Tony Macaulay and Barry Mason, the song was recorded by famous session singer Tony Burrows (also lead singer of "United We Stand" by Brotherhood of Man, "My Baby Loves Lovin'" by White Plains, "Gimme Dat Ding" by The Pipkins, and "Beach Baby" by The First Class) with session musicians. "Love Grows" entered the UK charts at number 12 on January 24, 1970, and the following week it reached number one.
