Back On Track

Description

The music of his adolescence revived the energy of Eagle-Eye Cherry when he sat down to write his sixth studio album, "Back on Track," which will be released on January 27, 2023. Over the past two years during which the whole world felt lost, Eagle-Eye Cherry began to question his profession. He saw healthcare workers struggling with something that really mattered and wondered what his own role was. At the same time, however, the ability to share the experience of live music with others was missed, and he came to the conclusion that what he does is indeed important. Hence the title of his sixth studio album: "Back on Track."
Most of the songs were recorded just before the escalation of the pandemic, but when the process was delayed, other songs came to life. When Eagle-Eye spent most of his time at home and had time to improve his cooking skills, he started listening to the music he loved as a teenager and began buying his own records: Talking Heads (the neighbors of his family in Long Island during the 1980s), Blondie, The Clash, Modern Lovers. The influences may not be obvious, but there is something in the energy that Eagle-Eye finds incredibly inspiring. This results in 12 songs on the vinyl version of "Back on Track" and 13 songs on the CD and digital version.
Most of the album's tracks were recorded at the Atlantis studio, a few in Peter Kvint's studio, and one at Strawberry Studios in Töreboda. Eagle-Eye collaborated on writing the songs with Peter Kvint, Anders Pettersson, David Lindgren Zacharias, and Joel Sjöö, and a song that Eagle-Eye wrote in 2007 with Cameron McVey was brought back to life by British singer-songwriter Will Varley.
