Wait Til I Get Over

Description

Wait 'Til I Get Over is Durand Jones' first album without The Indications, and it is both a memoir and a love letter. It tells the story of his life, his evolution, and his revelations, the wisdom of his hometown in Louisiana and that which he could only acquire once he left. He recounts the contradictions of Hillaryville: the pristine beauty and the broken roads; his adolescent desire to leave and his adult desire to honor his tangled roots; the history of the plantation and the ups and downs of the Black community that has made its home in this town. Durand Jones finds something transformative in his memories there and in the life he has led since, ultimately claiming and embracing his whole being. The result is vulnerable, personal, and addresses his relationship with religious life, his mother, his homosexuality, and his self-worth. This record is made for the kids from rural South who need to hear that it is possible to dream bigger than the dreams of others.
