Alex Vizorek revisits Le Carnaval des animaux by Saint-Saëns. The French composer did not imagine that his bestiary would become one of the most famous works of our time, a staple of music just like Prokofiev's Peter and the Wolf… The Belgian humorist and actor has rewritten the text of this "great zoological fantasy"; he is the narrator, alongside the Duo Jatekok and the Orchestre national de Lille, under the direction of Lucie Leguay… A "funny and poetic delight" featuring the royal march of the Lion, Hens, Roosters, mysterious Hemiones, the eclectic parade of Tortoises, the Elephant and Kangaroos, the famous Aquarium that inspired the anthem of the Cannes festival, and of course the famous Swan…. "When man stays away, the animal is happy…" concludes Alex Vizorek. To celebrate Saint-Saëns, who passed away a hundred years ago in 1921, the Duo Jatekok also presents another of his hits, Danse macabre, in its version for four hands. Naïri Badal and Adélaïde Panaget, the orchestra, and Lucie Leguay close this colorful parade with the flamboyant Concerto for Two Pianos by Poulenc, created in 1932 during the 10th Venice Biennale.
