The very beautiful recording presented here, whose program allows for the discovery or rediscovery of more or less unknown pieces, is not an opportunistic commission, concerned with fitting into a trendy movement, namely the militant promotion of female creation. Certainly, the nobility of such a cause has not escaped the two performers, Clara Danchin and Anna Jbanova, but more generally, the fervor of their playing primarily conveys the idea that it is necessary to do justice to works that cannot be relegated to the status of curiosities. The museum-like function of the record plays its role, but with a perspective that clearly aims to encourage concert performances. There are indeed certain scores that have fallen victim to the adverse winds of fate, and Marguerite Canal's sonata, for example, could not better illustrate our point. It is known that it had excited the great Enescu who, struck by death, could not realize his project to present it publicly. Regarding this sonata, it is worth noting that Clara Danchin, a professor at the Toulouse conservatory, has generously dedicated her time to exploring the archives of the municipal library, thus contributing to a biography of Pierrette Germain.
