Under the invigorating direction of John Butt, the Dunedin Consort is in a perpetual quest for new ways to bring baroque music to life. Last April, Butt conducted a performance of Handel's Ode for St Cecilia’s Day during the closing concert of the Misteria Paschalia 2018 Festival in Poland. Joining the Dunedin Consort was tenor Ian Bostridge, who is reunited here with soprano Carolyn Sampson. After being widely acclaimed for their Messiah, which also won a Gramophone Award, the Dunedin Consort has set the bar very high for this recording dedicated to Handel… Its fans will be delighted with this rich and colorful tribute to the Patron Saint of music. The recording also features the Concerto grosso in A minor Op. 6 No. 4 by the composer, in which the instrumentalists of the Dunedin Consort take center stage.
