WHERE THE OLD GODS PLAY/ACT 1/VINYLE COULEUR AVEC ECLABOUSSURES
Description
Nordic folk, doom, and progressive metal meet the lyrics of Dun Ringill on the studio album by Dun Ringill "150-Where the Old Gods Play Act 1." After the release of their second album "Library of Death," the six Swedes decided to challenge themselves further by writing an ambitious double concept album, released in two distinct parts in 2023 and 2024 respectively. To enhance the storytelling, the band (now with a new drummer) chose to intensify their dark and progressive visions while faithfully incorporating their native Nordic folk influences. Dun Ringill found new inspiration when they embarked on the grand and almost impossible mission of composing a coherent and well-written story while simultaneously recording a concept album without any unwanted pretension. It was important to make writing the main focus, ensuring that the lyrics and music complemented each other, bringing them to life in unison while also working independently as individual songs. Throughout this journey, the band developed and explored many new areas outside their folk-doom comfort zone by introducing a strong progressive element, resulting in an advancement of their technical, musical, and emotional expressions. The journey has been vibrant, powerful, challenging, and at times very dark. Without the excessive downtime provided by the pandemic, this work would simply never have come to fruition.
