Te deum

Description

Le Poème Harmonique breathes new life into the Te Deum by Charpentier and Lully. On this album, Le Poème Harmonique breathes new life into the Te Deum by Charpentier and Lully, splendors of sacred music that celebrated the victory and recovery of the Sun King. Lully, of Italian origin, reveals to French art its style and essence, while Charpentier infuses the music of his country with the emotion and compositional art learned through contact with the Italians. Two musicians, two countries, two aesthetics, two fundamental stakes: one emerged covered in glory, eclipsing the other and condemning him to an undeserved subordinate position.
