Distance Over Time is the 14th studio album by the band, and after selling over 15 million albums, Dream Theater wanted to approach things a bit differently. For the first time, the band members lived, wrote, and recorded together for four months in the secluded Yonderbarn studios in Monticello, New York. For this new album, the band aimed to return to its roots and produce a more organic record. Despite these changes and a still unique signature that combines metallic aggression with remarkable progressive scope, this new opus is positioned as a delicately crafted, rich, complex, and highly intuitive fusion.
