In August 2019, he collapsed on stage due to a hemorrhagic stroke, and doctors told him he might never perform again. After undergoing a series of surgeries to repair his arteriovenous malformation and months of physical therapy, White proved them wrong by embarking on a national tour to promote his 2021 release "The Optimystic." The new songs "Power of a Woman" and "Hurts the Healing" are the latest previews of White's new music, who has received accolades such as Rolling Stone's 10 Country Artists You Need to Know, Grammy Awards' Artist of Tomorrow, and CMA Awards' International Song of the Year. He has shared the stage with country music superstars like Luke Bryan, Eric Church, and Zac Brown Band. In the summer of 2023, White went to a studio in Rienzi, Mississippi, with producer Jonathan Singleton to record his third album, Low Country High Road.
