For this recording, Dorothee Oberlinger and her excellent Ensemble 1700 have recorded exceptional music from one of the most influential Italian composers of his time: Alessandro Scarlatti (1660 Sicily - 1725). The album showcases the diversity of Scarlatti's musical works - from symphonies and concerti grossi, sonatas for flauto dolce to arias and cantatas. The majority of the album features fantastic instrumental music by Scarlatti, such as the Concerto No. 9 in A minor for recorder, strings, and continuo, the Sinfonia No. 7 in G minor for recorder, strings, and continuo, or the Sinfonia No. 9 in G minor for recorder, strings, and continuo. A new arrangement for ensemble of Scarlatti's Folia for harpsichord by Dorothee Oberlinger showcases his elegant tonal language, vocal and affect-laden, as well as his rich harmonic vocabulary. The album also presents fantastic vocal music by Scarlatti, featuring appearances by soprano Bruno de Sá (courtesy of Warner Classics/Erato) for the "Arias di Adone" and alto Helen Rasker for the magnificent cantata "Filen, mio caro bene." The latest recording by Dorothee Oberlinger, a world premiere, of the opera "I Portentosi Effetti Della Madre Natura" by Giuseppe Scarlatti, has received excellent reviews, like all her albums for DHM. "A delicate cast... surprising and intelligent," wrote the FAZ, and "stunning! Oberlinger hits the mark with this discovery. Three hours of operatic bliss! Every member of the cast is strong in this beautiful ensemble, on stage and in the orchestra, but together, they are irresistible on this summer evening," stated the Neue Musikzeitung.
