Doom is an English crust punk band from Birmingham, England, formed in 1987. Despite their short existence at the time, the band is considered a pivotal force in the rise of the crust punk movement. They recorded for Peaceville Records and are cited as a precursor to the grindcore style of metal music, often compared to Discharge. Doom entered the studio to record their first demo on August 28, 1987. Three songs were recorded, two of which appear on "A Vile Peace." Thanks to this first recording, Peaceville asked Doom to record a full LP for them, and in February 1988, Doom went to "Rich Bitch" studios and recorded 21 songs for the album "War Crimes"; a timeless and legendary album, still revered today as a perfect example of the peak of the crust punk genre.
