"In July 1958, Donald Byrd undertook a long stay in Europe, not returning to the United States until December. He leads a new quintet that performs at numerous festivals organized in Europe, Knokke-le-Zoute (Belgium), Cannes (France), Sweden, Norway, Germany - and an engagement at the Parisian jazz club ""Au Chat Qui Pêche"", a few days after their concert at the Olympia. The group feels very much at home in this club on rue de la Huchette, which quickly becomes a second home for them. In November and December 1958, Donald Byrd and his men are invited by French Radio to do some recording sessions. Sam Records is proud to present for the first time these unreleased studio sessions recorded as part of the program 'Jazz aux Champs-Elysées'."
