Our 2022 reissue of Don Julian and the Larks' 1974 album Super Slick delighted fans of rare 70s soul and funk, and this release will do the same. Conductor Don Julian followed in the footsteps of Isaac Hayes, Curtis Mayfield, and others by composing the music for the blaxploitation film Savage! in 1973; the reasons why Julian's music did not have as much impact as Superfly or Shaft are, on one hand, that the film did not perform as well, as it was a B-movie set in the Philippines financed and distributed by Roger Corman's New World Pictures, and, on the other hand, that the soundtrack was released on the slightly distributed Money Records label. Dig into the fantastic flute work of Jimmy Vinson... And the title track, which lasts over ten minutes, is simply disgusting.
