Concerts en sextuor

Description

Ricercar could not miss celebrating the RAMEAU Year. It is the ensemble LES DOMINOS of Florence Malgoire that pays tribute to him with a very rarely performed repertoire. These are what Camille Saint-Saëns called Concerts en Sextuor in the monumental edition of Rameau’s works that he produced at the end of the 19th century. To do so, he worked from a manuscript made by a certain M. Decroix in 1768, four years after the composer’s death. These “Concerts de M. Rameau” are in fact six-part transcriptions of the Pièces de Clavecin en Concert that Rameau had originally conceived from his harpsichord pieces with accompaniment by violin or flute and viola da gamba. This adaptation by M. Decroix is highly enigmatic, and Les Dominos offer us a colorful reading of it, combining the strings with two emblematic instruments of Rameau’s orchestra, the flute and the bassoon.
