Since his first award at the Bruges competition and his first album dedicated to the Forqueray family (Choc de l’Année Classica, Gramophone Editor’s Choice, Grand Prix de l’Académie Charles Cros), the Franco-American harpsichordist Justin Taylor has been honored by the Professional Critique Association with the Prix Révélation Musicale. His career is rapidly developing, both as a soloist (harpsichordist and also fortepianist) and as the conductor of his ensemble, the Taylor Consort, which Alpha will soon record… For his second recital, Justin Taylor juxtaposes Scarlatti and Ligeti, two composers from such distant times and worlds, yet who share many affinities: through their inventiveness, the virtuosity of their two languages, and their common desire to push the keyboard to its limits… Continuum establishes a bridge between these two composers with heightened sensitivities, intimately intertwining the three emblematic (and spectacular!) solo harpsichord pieces by Ligeti with sonatas by Scarlatti.
