Here is the highly anticipated duo album from the monumental Argentine bandoneon player Dino Saluzzi and the German cellist Anja Lechner, who is best known for her work with the Rosamunde Quartett and her various explorations in other musical realms of the ECM label. It was she who, in the mid-90s, initiated the "Kultrum" project, a fruitful collaboration between Dino Saluzzi and the Rosamunde Quartett. Anja and Dino have since performed extensively as a duo. Richard Cook, editor of Jazz Review magazine, remarked about one of their concerts that it was "as close to perfection as any music I can currently remember." Essentially chamber music with roots deeply embedded in Argentine tradition, "Ojos Negros" showcases Saluzzi's sophisticated compositions (except for the traditional tango "Ojos Negros") while allowing ample room for improvisation.
