TRIBUTE TO CHARLIE HADEN (vinyl)

Description

Charlie Haden is, in my opinion, an atypical yet fundamental musician in today's music. His sense of melody and his lyricism make Charlie an essential voice in an era where everything must move quickly. The pursuit of beauty, depth, and introspection is what Charlie's music and playing have always made me feel, from Ornette Coleman's Quartet in the early sixties to his ultimate duet with Keith Jarrett. His passing left a void and a silence that prompted me to undertake this project. Enrico Pieranunzi recorded four albums with Charlie Haden, and this project would not have seen the light of day without his involvement and enthusiasm. The trio we formed with André Ceccarelli since "Ménage à trois" was ideal. Finally, Pierre Bertrand had arranged the orchestral parts for André Ceccarelli's album "Ultimo," and he was the one who could provide a setting for our trio. Our work is a success, and I believe I have achieved my goal: to pay tribute to Charlie with an album that, I am sure, he would have loved.
