Symphonies Nos. 1 & 9
Symphonies Nos. 1 & 9
Description
German composer Johanna Senfter was a student of Max Reger, who recognized her musical talent and encouraged her to pursue advanced studies in his composition class in Leipzig. She graduated with honors in 1909. In 1910, she received the Arthur Nikisch Prize for the best student composition of the year. Coming from a wealthy industrial family, she enjoyed financial independence that allowed her to devote herself fully to her work. In addition to numerous chamber music pieces, she composed nine symphonies. From the youthful fervor of her first symphony (1914) to the profound and moving Ninth (1949), written after the two world wars, one can trace the evolution of her musical language. Chelsea Gallo conducts the Rhineland-Palatinate State Philharmonic Orchestra.Buy Symphonies Nos. 1 & 9 at the best price
