Deuce Ellis is a 33-year-old MC/producer from Buffalo, New York, who made his debut on the scene just 8 years ago with his first album on the theme of sexual comedy, Spread. This was followed in 2018 by Goodbye Blue Monday, and now, with the first anniversary of Midnight Ouroboros approaching this fall, Deuce continues his momentum by unveiling his 4th full album. "Spit Acid" kicks off the album with Deuce & Che Noir showcasing their rapping prowess over a dusty beat and a funky bass line, while "Planet America" is a dark boom bap track with social commentary presented through the lyrics. Homeboy Sandman joins the insightful "Outlaw Magicians," leading into the luxurious "Electric Soul," which tells the story of him breaking through walls these days. Next is "Loosin' My Mind," which is more of a brief soul interlude. Meanwhile, on "Ciao Boom," we have Deuce seemingly seeking revenge over a psychedelic boom bap instrumental just before the smooth yet steamy "Solar Power." The song "Steam" featuring Sauce Heist incorporates some tearful guitar passages to discuss how they paint images, while the penultimate track "Smirking Revenge" featuring Napoleon da Legend sadly addresses betrayal. Finally, "The Yield" contains a meditative beat and recounts what it was like for him to quarantine during COVID. Deuce has been producing quality music for nearly a decade at this point. However, Acid could very well be his magnum opus. He has a unique production style that doesn't sound different here, and lyrically, he hasn't even reached his final form yet.
