In King Of The Mischievous South, a mixtape produced in 2012, rapper Denzel Curry embodied the persona of Raven Miyagi, his alter ego inherited from his time with the underground group Raider Klan. The following year, Denzel Curry would launch a dazzling solo career punctuated by astonishing concept albums (including Imperial in 2016 and UNLOCKED released in 2021), and marked by the birth of a new fictional character: Big Ultra. An 'enhanced' version of Raven Miyagi, Denzel Curry's imaginary double is at the helm of King Of The Mischievous South Volume 2, the sequel to a cult mixtape in which he pays homage to Southern hip-hop, from its 90s roots to its contemporary sounds, and from Memphis to Houston, via Atlanta and Florida, where the rapper originates from.
