Hot Coffey in the D

Description

The unreleased recordings of the legendary Motown guitarist Dennis Coffey, captured live at Morey Baker's Showplace Lounge in Detroit in 1968. An iconic member of the Funk Brothers, Coffey has collaborated with countless music icons, from Quincy Jones to Barbra Streisand to Michael Jackson and Stevie Wonder. Hot Coffey In The D was produced by Mike Theodore's team, the same one responsible for the resurrection of Cold Fact, the first album by Rodriguez, as well as the now-famous soundtrack of the film Searching For Sugar Man. These recordings reveal a wild and unfiltered Dennis Coffey at his best, accompanied by his Detroit mates Lyman Woodard (organ) and drummer Melvin Davis. The cover is designed by Bill Morrison (The Simpsons, Futurama) and the box set also includes rare photos as well as writings by esteemed journalist Kevin Goins.
